Tree Reports
Development plans display what an area should look like in the future and the process that will be followed to get there. When planning is complete, it needs to be submitted and approved by the local planning authority. Because development can impact surrounding trees, a development plan needs to include best practices and solutions to ensure the safety of trees by including a tree/arborist report.
A BS 5837 tree report (“Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction to Construction – Recommendations”) is a British standard that supplies us with recommendations relating to tree-care and steps to guarantee that trees are efficiently preserved when development occurs.
This suggests that if trees are situated on or around a development site, the local planning authority will take this report into consideration when reviewing applications for that development site.
Any approved development process thereafter, should appropriately follow the procedures and proposals set out in BS5837.
