In support of a Cork city centre development, Holly Arboriculture was instructed to conduct a BS5837-compliant tree survey and produce an arboricultural report to accompany the planning application.

BS5837 Compliant Tree Survey and Arboricultural Report for Cork City Development

Scope of Services

The proposed site encompassed several large apartment blocks, retail and commercial units, and a thoughtfully designed landscape scheme, utilising existing mature trees.

Challenges & Solutions

Our survey assessed the existing tree population, establishing quality categories and various data points that contribute to the site’s ecological and aesthetic value. Data collected shall also determine the necessary precautions to minimise construction related impacts to trees. By carefully categorising each tree’s quality, condition, and future potential, we developed a clear layout that supported the project’s design goals without compromising arboricultural standards.

Project Outcome

The final report included specific recommendations for tree protection measures, such as root protection zones, ground protection, protective fencing, and detailed methods to mitigate impacts where construction activity within root zones was unavoidable. This guidance was essential in demonstrating to the planning authority the project teams commitment to preserving the sites existing natural assets.

“I have worked with Holly Arboriculture on numerous residential schemes in which they have assisted us greatly by providing professional tree surveys and tree protection plans on a number of sensitive and challenging projects”.
