Project Overview

The management of Mallow Golf Club commissioned a health and condition survey of the tree population on their 18 hole parkland golf course.The objective was to assess the overall tree population on the course in order to:

  • Identify potential risks to players posed by trees on the course;
  • Mitigate any safety concerns with a detailed schedule of works;
  • Identify areas on the course that will benefit from long term management intervention, for example, replacing inappropriate trees, recommendations for new tree planting;
  • Identify pests and diseases present and mitigate the effects where possible.

Challenges & Solutions

CHALLENGES SOLUTIONS
Not knowing which trees are safe and which posed a risk to players. We carried out an evaluation of the tree population particularly near tee boxes, greens, linking pathways and other high-traffic areas that are in continuous use.
Inappropriate tree species outgrowing their positions. We identified trees with a variety of issues (structural concerns, diseases, inappropriate species) and we catalogued these specific trees and their locations in our report.
Implementing a cost-efficient, targeted schedule of works. The collected data and maintenance recommendations, were integrated into an easy to read report accompanied by a tree location map.

Project Outcome

The tree health and condition survey conducted at Mallow Golf Club, not only enhanced course safety and aesthetics, but also empowered the management team with actionable insights. The informed decisions resulted in cost savings through targeted interventions, ensuring the preservation of the golf course’s natural beauty and environmental quality for years to come. .

“Commissioning a tree survey and report helped us greatly in understanding the condition and safety of our trees on the course. We know exactly what areas we need to address, saving us time and costs but most important ensuring our trees are safe.
Paul from Holly Arboriculture was very professional throughout. His communication and manner was excellent, answering any questions we had. The work was carried out promptly, meeting deadlines as agreed.”
